With the snowmelt and rain a couple of days ago we predicted that the rivers would be high and to stained for fly fishing, the rivers as predicted are running high but the visibility has remained very good in places. For example who would have thought that at over 600 cfs the upper Chagrin would be fishable but this morning it had a good 20" of visibility and was running more green than the muddier brown i anticipated. Also the Conneaut was running very clear for the flow as well with about 2 feet of Vis on the upper stretches. I did not see the lower Chagrin but have to assume it had less Vis than up high.
With that being said the snow on the east side did melt off this morning and bump the rivers up again but i have to believe with the current trends that the Conneaut and upper Chagrin will fish Friday afternoon and this weekend if we don't get any more rain. Currently we are not sure about the Rocky but know the Vermilion is not fishing.

With the current water temps being as cool as they are and the water high look for fish in the holes, softer current seams and inside bends as they should be stacked up in these places waiting for the water to warm back up to continue spawning. There has been a good mix of fresh and older fish in the rivers with more fresh fish coming in daily.
Hot Patterns: Nymph patterns have really been holding their own as black stones, pheasant tails, princes, and caddis larva have all been producing fish. For streamers the flashy purple and black egg sucking leeches we have at the shop have been fishing extremely well and show up great in the higher stained water, white as always has been taking fish. Glo bugs are as good as ever and orange and pink seem to be producing the most strikes right now.

Chagrin: 826 cfs and dropping fast. Should fish fri. afternoon and improve thru weekend.

Grand: 2110 cfs and holding. Tribs have not been great but that could change any day.

Rocky: 878 cfs and begining to drop but very slowly.

Verm: 210 cfs and dropping fast should be great this weekend.

Conneaut: Snow melt has it high and off color should fish Sat/Sun.
