Angler enjoying a sunny day today on the upper Chagrin...

Chagrin River looking upstream from Rogers Road...

The upper Chagrin is 95% ice free from Gates Mills to below route 6. The lower still has alot of ice but is starting to open up in places. I expect things to blow out with the warm temps and rain in the forecast and open things up very nicely in the near future. Looking forward the week of the 15th should be just about right for some serious steelheadiing to start. For the nearer future like this weekend the upper Chagrin has plenty of water but not many fish though anglers are getting into a couple. The Rocky may be the best bet as it has been very open for the last couple of weeks with some fresh fish moving into the system. Hot flies have been steelhead princes, pink and orange estaz eggs, white lite brite zonkers, and black great lakes sparrows. Good luck to those going out this weekend and get ready for spring steelheading because it is on its way.

We do not have any first hand info for the Eastern tribs but will get out that way on Monday to let everyone know what its looking like on the Grand and Conneaut.

As always good luck and tight lines from Chagrin River Outfitters.
