Little guy that fought like he was 3x his actual size.

The Upper Chagrin and its counterparts are running pretty high and stained right now but with no rain in the forecast it will make for great late week and weekend conditions on our steelhead Tribs.

The major Ohio tribs our running high, hard, and dirty. The good news is they are all ready dropping and with sunshine in the forecast good fishing conditions will be here by late week and the weekend. Look for the Chagrin to be fishable by late Thursday and the Conneaut by Saturday. The Grand proper is out of commission for the weekend as is the Rocky due to major localized thunderstorms in these areas that dumped large amounts of rain. The Grand tribs will fish tomorrow and the upper stretches of Elk are nice and green today while the lower river is still dirty.

Fresh fish have been moving into the rivers and will continue to do so with this recent rainfall. This next push of fish should be a big one, and they will be distributed pretty well throughout the river systems. Look for great fishing from here on out as large numbers of fish will be present over the next month.

Usually catching a fish on the first cast of the day is bad luck. Not today.

Our rivers are looking good and the fish are starting to show up. The Conneaut is in prime shape with flow and color but the fishing has been slow until now but that could all change overnight, middle to lower river has been the best. The Chagrin had a few fish show up recently and more should be following shortly. The Grand is still flowing high and off color but will be fishable next week, while the Grand tribs are getting very low and clear. The Rocky reports are river is in great shape with a few fresh fish in the system along with a few older ones.

Hot flies the past few days have been nuc-eggs in white and orange, black stone fly patterns, caddis larva, and white lite brite zonkers.

To say things are looking good would be an understatement. The rivers are dropping and clearing right on schedule for the start of our Spring time steelheading here in North East Ohio. As of today the Grand tribs and the PA tribs are all fishing. By Thursday the Chagrin will be prime and may fish Wed. afternoon as well. I will be on the Upper Chagrin Tomorrow morning for a few hours before work to give it a try. It is still a little high and off color and would rather fish it in the afternoon or Thursday but work seems to get in the way sometimes.

The Rocky on the west side will Possibly fish Thursday and for sure by Friday and the weekend. The Grand is way high and off color and will not fish for a awhile yet. The Conneaut has good flow but bad color. Look for this one to fish on Saturday.

River Report

Currently all the rivers are high and muddy with no fishing to be had anywhere in Northeast Ohio. Next week will be very good and only the rains will determine when. If we get the half inch they are calling for Friday thru the weekend should be great. If the rains don't come in the amounts they are calling for things should fish a couple of days sooner. Stay tuned as we will keep you posted as to when and where the rivers are starting to fish.

This is Brian from Columbus. Together we covered many miles of the upper Chagrin last Thursday to no avail. We are going to try it again in a few weeks.

The rivers are on the rise and turning muddy in Northeast Ohio. This should bode well for the coming weeks as the high water clears out the river ice and allows the steelhead staging at the river mouths to begin their annual migration into our rivers and streams. For those who have to go out The Pennsylvania tribs are in good shape with that nice steelhead green color and good flow that should last until the rains start later this week.
