JUSTINS OFF TO MARTHAS VINEYARD AGAIN FOR THE SUMMER...
Steelhead season is just about over on the Ohio tribs while the lake run smallies are beginning to show up in good numbers and good size. For these pre-spawn fish streamers work as well as anything as they are super hungry and aggressive this time of year.
Pennsylvania trout season is in full swing as the march browns are hatching well and a few sulphurs are starting to make an appearance as well. Tan and green caddis are also showing up as well as BWO's, crane flies, and some gray foxes. If you are fishing PA remember to fish darker dry flies in the mornings (browns and dark Grays) and lighter in the afternoons (creams, light Grays) to best match the hatches this time of year. For local anglers looking for a PA trout fix Oil Creek is fishing extremely well with Green Caddis providing great dry fly fishing. Central PA has been fishing well also with Spring Creek providing its best fishing for a long time. Penns Creek is turning on and the Little Juniata has been fishing well with hatches increasing in both duration and numbers of bugs bringing more and more fish to the top.
Grand: 359 cfs very clear and good smallmouth numbers in lower river.
Conneaut: Low and Clea but plenty of good sized smallmouth in the lower stretches.
Vermilion: 39 cfs. decent numbers of smallies around and tons of rock bass.
Rocky: 119 cfs pretty low and clear, decent smallie fishing and good sight fishing to carp.
Remember to stop by the shop for your fly fishing supplies as we are well stocked with everything you need for springtime fly fishing.
