We did manage to hook a couple fish yesterday...
Surprisingly enough we had the rivers to ourselves...

Tribs to the Grand Are Locking up...

Grand below Payne Creek is still very high and fast...

Fresh skipper that was eager to taste a lite brite zonker...

Grand River below Payne is still raging...

It's time to go home....

In spite of all the slush and very cold temps we got out yesterday to do a little scouting and even some fishing. All the creeks had major slush except for the Grand which had Major color and flow. The fact that the Grand is still so big is good news for us as it may not be affected as much by the severe cold coming our way the next few days and may be fishable as the temps become more stable again next week.

Coming next will be fly tying schedule and seminar dates and also pics of the new and improved fly tying section of the store....if you get a chance stop on down this weekend and let us know what you think.

River pics from today and weekend outlook...

I took a little drive today to get everyone some river pics and let you all know what kind of shape the rivers are in. I didn't get a chance to do any fishing but reports coming into the shop are mixed with some guys finding a few fish while others have not been so lucky. Looking at the sunny side of things which is how we like to view it is its the end of January, the weather has been fairly nice and, the rivers are opening up and there is plenty of water to go out and wet a line in if you have the itch.

Grand River looking upstream from Vrooman Road....

Grand at the Confluence of Payne creek looking downstream...

Lower Grand at Kiwanis Park...High and not much vis but the river is pretty open and should be in good shape early next week...

Chagrin River Park looking downstream from footbridge...

Chagrin Looking downstream from Rogers Road....

Chagrin at Gates Mills Dam...plenty of flow with a nice Steelhead green tint to the water...

Chagrin River: The lower you go on the Chagrin the more ice you will find...the upper has plenty of open water with good flow and color...

Grand River: The Grand is high and off color but much of the ice is gone and should be fishable be early next week unless we get a bunch of rain....

Rocky: Reports from the Rocky have been good water conditions..plenty of open except at the lower end, and OK fishing.

Elk Creek: Plenty of open water on the Elk and reports are fishing is decent...

Thats all the first hand news we have at the moment but will be on the water the next couple of days to keep you in the loop...the fishing has been slow and with the lower rivers still iced up i would not expect that to change much until they open up a little allowing some fresh fish to enter the rivers...but if you have the itch you can at least scratch it....good luck

January thaw should have us fishing for the weekend....

The last day we were on the river...new years Eve...

Ever try putting on rock hard wading boots...not much fun

Another pic from New Years Eve Day...river was in great shape..fishing at least for me was slow on the upper Chagrin...

The cold has settled in and put the lock down on our beloved tribs here in Northern Ohio for the time being...there are still a few anglers in the know getting out to pet spots here and there but for the most part it is over until we get a good thaw...blowout...and then some fishing.

Thats the bad news...the good news is we have made a few changes to our fly tying blog and you will be seeing great winter and springtime steelhead patterns to tie until things warm up a bit. We will also keep things rolling with fly tying classes....tying days here in the shop...seminars and other events to ward off cabin fever...the event dates and times will be posted shortly...

Also don't forget to sign up to our e-mail list to get shop coupons, sales notices and updates...also we have discounted ($12 vs $15 at the door) tickets...(hey three bucks is the price of a beer) for the Film tour Coming to town in March here at the shop so stop on in and pick yours up today.

Happy New Years to Everyone and have a wonderful 2010
Dan, Peter, and Justin
